De vrouw staat centraal in het werk van Anouk van der Wegen. Zij gaat de confrontatie aan het haar eigen lichaam. Hierin staat 'het schoonheidsideaal' centraal. Het uitgeput van het 'mooi' moeten zijn voor de buitenwereld, en in haar beleving, vooral voor mannen.Zij laat in haar performance kort zien hoe de constante druk op dat schoonheidsideaal haar te veel wordt.
